Reedy Creek Cleanup

  • PetSmart (Greenbelt Access Behind Store) 2003 North Eastman Road Kingsport, TN, 37660 United States (map)

Join Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) for an in-stream cleanup of Reedy Creek. Once again, we will be working with the Kingsport Stormwater Division and Keep Kingsport Beautiful (KKB) as part of the annual Greenbelt Cleanup, which also takes place on June 1.

Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenbelt access parking area behind PetSmart (2003 North Eastman Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660) to set shuttle, and float from N. Eastman Rd. to the Stonebrook Trailhead. This is a 1.85-mile section of gently flowing creek that mostly travels beside the Greenbelt with private land on the opposite side of the creek. Using canoes and recreation kayaks with “trash grabbers” works great to pick up litter off the private property while floating the stream.

Plan to be finished 12:30 p.m. at Stonebrook Place. This will be the third times APEs have floated Reedy Creek helping KKB, but the first time on this section.
