Get ready for fantastic Class II rapids on the Tuckasegee Gorge. This 5.4-mile paddle is a favorite for whitewater and inflatable kayaks, and there are number exciting rapids without major consequences if you swim. We are moving this annual event from the Lower Pigeon River in 2025 due to damage from Hurricane Helene. All are welcome, including men.
We will meet at noon for shuttle at the Dillsboro Launch Park (https://maps.app.goo.gl/X8B9FWWYpoPEaS6z8) directly across the river from Dillsboro River Company. Parking is limited, so it will be helpful to prearrange your own shuttle if possible. Dillsboro River Company also provides shuttle service for a fee, and you can paddle across to the park to meet the group. It’s anticipated the paddle will start at 1:00 pm.
Flowing entirely in western North Carolina, the Tuckasegee River (or “Tuck”) begins near Cashiers and travels for more than 50 miles through Sylva, Dillsboro and Bryson City, ending at Fontana Lake.
