Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts will meet for a paddle on French Broad 11, which has two awesome wave trains! The trip is 6.4 miles of Class II rapids and one Class III rapid that has a sneak for Class II. This is an excellent stretch of river to build your skills with a long flat paddle at the beginning to warm up and practice strokes. We will meet for shuttle at 10:30 a.m. off Hwy. 70/25 in the dirt parking area just as you turn onto Bluff Rd. for the Hwy. 70/25 boat ramp. (Search for Hwy. 70/25 Boat Ramp in Google Maps)
The French Broad River flows for 218 miles from Transylvania County, NC into Tennessee, where its confluence with the Holston River in Knoxville forms the Tennessee River. It’s believed to be one of the oldest rivers in the world.
