2024 Nolichucky River Cleanup

  • Blue Ridge Paddling 1001 South Industrial Drive Erwin, TN, 37650 United States (map)

In 2023, APEs brought together approximately 75 volunteers who removed more than 65 tires and hundreds of bags of trash.

Join Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) for the annual Nolichucky River Cleanup, which we have been coordinating since 1987! Our focus will be on the section between USA Raft and “Big Rock.”

We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at Blue Ridge Paddling (1001 S. Industrial Drive, Erwin, TN 37650) to separate into groups and depart for the cleanup. Volunteers will reconvene by 3:00 p.m. for a complimentary post cleanup meal and prize raffle.

Participants should bring the water fairing vessel of their choice along with proper paddling gear, including PDF and helmet. Plan on equal parts work and fun!

This year we will be raffling the Jackson Kayak Karma Unlimited, an 11-foot 10-inch race boat. Dane Jackson was the first person to complete a sub-four-minute lap of the Green Race in this boat, and the time is stenciled on the stern. Retail $1600. Thanks to Emily Jackson and the good people at Jackson Kayak for their generosity!

We also will raffle a custom painted whitewater helmet designed by Olivia Petty-Taylor! (Design below.) And many other great prizes.
