The 7th Annual Powell River Kayak & Canoe Regatta will be held this year on April 27, 2024. This 12-mile race on the scenic Class I Powell River will have nine race categories with cash prizes and one recreational category for those who might chose a more leisurely paddle with friends or family. All net proceeds from this charity event will go to the Powell River Blueway Trail project, which is dedicated to improving public access for paddlers on and off the Powell River in Northeast Tennessee.
The Powell River in Claiborne County Tennessee is the second largest un-dammed (free-flowing) river in Tennessee and one of the cleanest. You will likely see more blue herons than cabins. It is a very rural and natural setting. You may also see kingfishers, river otters, bald eagles and wood ducks.
The start line for the race is adjacent to Well Being Retreat Center at 557 Narrows Rd., Tazewell, TN 37879.
This is a good time for a good cause.
$150 for first place in each race category; $50 for second place
Entry fees are $35 for singles events and $55 per boat for double kayaks and canoes.
There is no prize money for the "recreational" category
