Join Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts on the Lower Nolichucky for a 6-mile mostly Class II paddle. There is one Class III rapid, Radio Tower (Radio Waves), which has a hole and a secondary creek/alternate current flowing in at the end. However, there is a good recovery area/pool after if you take a swim, and it is possible to portage your boat if you are not up to the challenge. This is a beautiful section of the Noli with opportunities to play, work the river and practice skills.
This event is taking place along with APEs Spring Fling! We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the USA Raft Red Banks Campground (109 Burrell Farm RoadErwin, TN, 37650).
The Nolichucky River flows 115-miles in western North Carolina and east Tennessee through the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests. It is a tributary of the French Broad River formed by the confluence of the North Toe River and the Cane River near Green Mountain, NC.
